In May, the TITAN expressed its support for the European Cement Association CEMBUREAU ’s new Roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

According the international cement and building materials producer, it is important to remain focused on addressing long-term climate challenges, whilst dealing with the repercussions and challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Carbon Neutrality Roadmap sets out the cement industry’s ambition to reach net zero emissions along the cement and concrete value chain by 2050.

The Roadmap looks at how CO2 emissions can be reduced though concrete actions across the supply chain. It also quantifies the role of technology in providing CO2 emissions savings, making concrete political and technical recommendations to support this objective, such as developing a pan-European CO2 transportation and storage network or implementing concrete circular solutions to reduce waste in cement production.

Like TITAN, many of our members are working to mitigate the potentially disastrous effects of climate change by implement new business models to align with the goals set out in the Paris Agreement for 2030.

To support companies and industry federations in this undertaking, CSR Europe has developed the European Pact for Sustainable Industry, setting the basis for a pan-European movement aimed at invigorating leadership and engagement towards a Sustainable Europe 2030.

How? By incubating collaborations to develop practical and scalable solutions under the umbrella of the European Pact for Sustainable Industry.
